what am I truly thankful for?

the Word of God.
inspired. TRUE. blessed. LIFE-GIVING. worshipful.
I need more of God. I need more of the Holy Spirit filling me up. everyday. I need the truth of God's Word written on my heart. I desire to know only God SO much more.
Every day, every week, every night I get frustrated with myself- I let my lazy, sinful, worldly ways get in the way of truly, deeply knowing God. knowing His Word.
I need to change. I need to change. I need a new routine. I need to change. I need to make the Word of God my true priority. [NOT reading emails, facebooks, other blogs]

So what will I do? This blog will be my accountability. Every morning, just as I do now, I will get on the computer, but this time with my Bible by side and instead of reading emails, facebook, and other blogs, I will read and journal about what God is teaching me through His Word. Every-stinking-day I WILL.

So here we go. Day 1.
1 Peter. chapter 1.

verse 14-16. As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: "Be holy, because I am holy."
be holy in all you do. be set apart in all you do. be set apart in all I do. in everything I do I must be holy, be set apart, be different from this world, because He is holy. in everything I do, I must be set apart, be holy. as I nanny, in class, as a small group leader, as a wife, as a daughter, and friend. even when I drive, go to the store, or blog. I must be set apart for the world. BECAUSE HE IS HOLY.

verse 23- 25. For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. For,

All people are like grass,

and all their glory is like the flowers of the field;

the grass withers and the flowers fall,

but the word of the Lord endures forever.

Seems pretty fitting. I need that enduring Word of God in my life. in my heart. in my words.

Lord,
THANK YOU for Your Word. that it is living. that is enduring. that I even have the opportunity to read it. to soak it in. to apply it in my life. to memorize it. to speak it. I pray that you would fill me up. fill me up with your Spirit, your Word, your promises, your life.
More of you and less of me.

74. that the people I work for appreciate me

75. that Jackson laughs and makes me laugh all day most every day

76. I get to nap almost every stinkin' day at WORK. that's pretty awesome

77. how God takes care of every little detail. paying attention to the smallest desires of my heart. just the other morning I had fleeting thoughts about how Manny never plays me any songs or sends me lyrics like he used to, then that very night he played a song for us :)

78. that today is my last day of work before a 3 day Christmas weekend!

79. We are celebrating the BIRTH OF THE SAVIOR OF THE WORLD

80. the sun is shining and all that ice is melting off the trees, it almost looks like it is raining. [I wish I was of the photographer nature and I could capture this beauty]

81. every morning I drive looking towards Pikes Peak, [most mornings] praising God for what he creating for us. "the rocks will cry out"
82. Jackson just went digging in the plants. time to vacuum. thanks for vacuums.

61. quiet nights at home

62. that my dad watched lifetime Christmas movies ALL day yesterday with no shame

63. my brother.

64. that Manny and John get along so well. and love each other so much.

65. finally having the time to unpack all the books in the office and hang up the pictures and curtains in our bedroom

66. SLEEPING IN!

67. being able to go to the movies and out to eat with Mom and Karla for my birthday [even if the movie was CRAZY]

68. my birthday. even though it was not the greatest I was able to spend a little time with all of those I love.

69. that I even have the chance to further my education and get my MASTERS

70. that my phone works!!! after Jackson dropped it in a glass of water.

71. the Fernihough's made it to Texas safely

72. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MANDY. I am so blessed to have you be a part of my life

38. finding the camera I thought was "stolen" in the exact place I knew I left -my backpack. only 7 months and 1 new camera later.
39. Jackson's laughter.
40. coffee, so good.

42. the way Manny hugs me every morning before he or I leave for work or what not. I pray we never stop doing that. it is the perfect way to start each and every day
43. a car that runs and gets me to and from every place I need to/want to go.
44. our wonderful friends- the Clarks. they are such a blessing. there are no words

47. Reesie's laughter
48. Siah's kind words and heart. and Man, that kid is smart!

3. that when I asked Jackson where his belly was today, for the 1st time he patted his belly with a big smile on his face!!!

5. socks that keep my feetsies very warm. [even if I do look very silly everyday, Jackson never says anything ;)]
6. my daily nap. goodness. I have no idea how good that is.

10. the ease of the crockpot!!! yea for best-roast-ever that will be served tonight :)

lately... I have a lot to be thankful for...

my incredible husband. he works so hard for us. he always puts my needs first. he serve the Lord with everything that is within him, even when he's too tired. he makes me laugh everyday. he is wise. he is kind. he is patient. he loves me.



the alethia community. goodness, that amazing people we have been blessed with through alethia--- the fernihoughs, the clarks, the peeks, kaci and tyler, dani, autumn and jason, the bhatts of course, the wesselholfs, the hillmans, goodness, I am SOOOOOOOO thankful for all of these people!!!!!



my parents. i just love them a whole lot. I can't wait till we move in & start this whole new chapter in our lives :)



the best EARLY birthday present ever---- ROCKET SUMMER concert. seriously. one of the best times of my life!!!!
